In this video:
We're going to be reviewing tonsillitis, a common condition in pediatric patients.
Tonsillitis is an acute inflammation of the tonsils, and over time it can become a chronic condition. Part of the lymph system, tonsils filter bacteria and other threats to the body, but they can become inflamed. Immature immunity, bacteria (Group A Beta hemolytic Strep), bad habits (like handwashing) are all things that can potentially cause tonsillitis.
In this video, I'll be covering what tonsillitis is, what are the risk factors, findings, and how to care for patients with tonsillitis. We'll also discuss what is involved with a tonsillectomy, and how to care for patients who have had this procedure.
About me:
I’m Nurse Lizzie. I am a certified, pediatric RN and have been working in nursing and education for over a decade. I am dedicated to helping nurses, whether you’re just beginning your journey as a student, already in the field, or helping the next group of great minds conquer their goals. Although the Nurse Lizzie ecosystem no doubt has a special pediatric flare, ALL nurses are welcome! In today's world, we need to stick together and help each other.
That's why my core values are as follows:
Helpful - Help Nurses achieve their fullest potential.
Excited - Be excited and passionate about the field. If you loose your passion, you loose your HEART.
Authentic - Be Real. Be true to yourselves.
Respectful - Always show respect to each other, team members and partners
Teamwork - One nurse can't do it alone! We all can use a little push from each other!
